What is a FabLab?

FABLAB (Fabrication Laboratory) is a fabrication workshop which gives people the opportunity to turn their ideas into reality. The FabLab is accessible to all people and can work directly with primary schools, secondary schools, third level students, youth and adult groups to develop an interest in 3D design. Individuals and Companies can also avail of the facilities within the FabLab for the relevance of designing prototypes and training.

The FabLab has 3D printing Machines, CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Machine and Laser Cutting Machine along with 3D scanner. The FabLab can provide training in Autodesk – AutoCAD, Inventor & Revit software along with Solidworks Software. The FabLabs provide a Computer Aided Design and Draughting course for a duration of 40 weeks through blended learning and workshops 2 days a week for 5.5 to 6 hours per workshop, along with a dedicated Revit course which also is delivered through blended learning for 25 Weeks with workshops 1 day a week for 4 hours.

The FabLab has participated in Science Week 2018 and 2019 with 11 groups of people attending. All groups were given an introduction to the FabLab and everyone used Coreldraw Software to create their own Name Tag which were printed on the Laser Cutting Machine and were brought home by the participants as a souvenir from their visit to the FabLab. The Enniscorthy FabLab is part of the World Wide organisation for FabLab’s and this can accessed here- fablab.io
